Recovery, Land Titles and Displacement: Community Reflections in Puerto Rico

Last month, 35 community leaders from 10 countries across the Global South gathered in Puerto Rico to learn about Community Land Trusts (CLTs) and see how residents of a low-income neighborhood in San Juan’s Caño Martin Peña have applied the model to formalize their tenure and preserve the affordability of their housing in perpetuity, preventing gentrification.

Entitled “International Conference for Recovery, Land Titles and Displacement: Community Reflections” the community leaders and stakeholders shared applications of CLTs and various subjects on social production of habitat

Global Land Alliance was represented by Hannah Sholder, who joined as a supporting actor- in particular supporting the efforts of the participants from Bangladesh to adapt the model for tribal lands and internal displacement camps.
