Short/Mid Term Consultancy - Brazil Land and Forest Tenure

Global Land Alliance is a not-for-profit organization based in Washington D.C. that strives to enable the prosperity of people and places by advancing learning and practice of land governance to achieve healthy relationships with land, life and natural resources, emphasizing local and Indigenous knowledge.

GLA is seeking an early-career individual for work related to the recognition of rights and securing land tenure of indigenous, afrodescendant and traditional community territories in the Amazonian region of Brazil. We encourage folks to apply who have the following experiences or characteristics:

  • Must have business fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken)

  • Must have experience in the following technical areas: land tenure, forest tenure, natural resource management, and/or other relevant area of expertise in the thematic area of local and community land governance

  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team. and also the ability liaise with relevant partners and stakeholders (i.e. technical and managerial level government and NGO representatives)

  • Previous work experience with Brazilian government or international/Brazilian organizations desirable

  • Located in Brasilia, preferred
